Pelvic Floor: frequently asked questions
- When can I start pelvic floor exercises?
- Gentle Kegels in the first week after a vaginal birth, once the worst soreness eases. After a C-section, follow your provider's go-ahead, usually around six weeks.
- Do I need a pelvic floor physical therapist?
- If anything feels off after six weeks, leaking, pain, a bulge, a gap in the abs, ask for the referral. Many countries make it standard; the US does not, and it is worth pushing for.
